How Much Does a Public Adjuster Cost in New York?
Long Island Public Adjusters works on a contingency fee that averages 6-12% of the settlement recovered — the larger the claim, the lower the percentage. New York State caps public adjuster fees at 12.5%, there is no up-front cost, and you owe nothing if we do not recover a payment. Call 516-410-0164 for a free claim review.
Our Fee Structure
Fees are a percentage of what we recover, agreed in writing before we start. The percentage slides down as claim value goes up, because the documentation work does not scale one-for-one with claim size.
Smaller residential claims
Up to 12%Typical water, mold, or partial-loss claims where documentation and negotiation work is the same regardless of claim size.
Mid-size claims
8-10%Larger residential fire, storm, or flood losses with contents, code upgrades, and additional living expense components.
Large loss / total loss
6-8%Total losses and commercial claims. Example: an $800,000 total house fire handled at 6%.
What the Fee Includes
New York's 12.5% Fee Cap
New York regulates public adjuster compensation and caps it at 12.5% of the claim payment. Any licensed New York public adjuster who quotes you more than that is outside the rules. Our fees start under the cap and drop from there on larger losses.
You should also receive a written contract stating the fee, the scope of the work, and your right to cancel. We provide that before any work begins — and our license (#PA-1156995) is verifiable with the New York Department of Financial Services on our licensing page.
Does the Fee Pay for Itself?
Across our closed files, the insurer's initial offer averaged roughly 25-30% of the final settlement. On a claim that first offered $20,000 and settled at $75,000, a 10% fee costs $7,500 against $55,000 in additional recovery.
You can review real settled amounts alongside estimated first offers on our results page. Past results do not guarantee a specific outcome on your claim.
